Please email j_e_jonson [ at] yahoo [dot] com or call me 770-6919 if you would like to help this weekend. Free Zestos for the first volunteer

Friends,
Redeemer’s next Exploratory Worship Service is this Sunday, May 25, 5pm at Zion Church. Please know that everyone is welcome to attend and we would love to have you join us. So please come!
Update:
Here is the schedule as Redeemer transitions from Zion Church.
Redeemer will be holding three more Exploratory Worship Services before we meeting for worship on a weekly basis. The next three dates are, May 25, June 8, and June 22. Beginning June 29, Redeemer will start meeting weekly and our Exploratory Worship Services will run through out the summer (we will plan on officially “launching” in early Fall.) The worship service time will be 5pm, to be followed by a full Children’s Ministry program, and a weekly Question & Answer
time for the adults where folks will have an opportunity to ask anything they want about the Christian faith. We are in the process of securing a location to worship from and hope to have all the details worked soon.
Some of you have asked how Redeemer plans to use the downtown properties. Early on, we looked at the possibility of opening up the top floor of the building at 8th & D in order to design a worship space. The price tag came back higher than we were able to work with, so we decided not to move forward with the project.
However, the building at 8th & D will still function as Redeemer’s primary ministry location during the week. We are considering moving Redeemer’s offices to 8th & D. Currently, Redeemer’s offices are back in the duplex at 836 E Street, but we are considering selling the duplex sometime in the near future in order to provide needed resources for operating expenses. (This decision, to sell or not, is an item you could pray for on behalf of Redeemer. Keeping the duplex would give Redeemer much more office space and would allow us to give office space to RUF staff, and possibly some Campus Life staff, and Young Life staff as well. So please pray for this decision). Pray also for our fund raising efforts over the next couple months. We have about $200,000 to still raise.
Many more of you have asked if Redeemer is going to build at 9th & D. The answer: we hope so.
As we have searched downtown for worship space to lease, Redeemer’s conviction has grown that 9th & D is an ideal location to build a church that connects to the surrounding neighborhoods and the city center of Lincoln. However, building a building costs a lot of money and our first priority is to build a congregation that has an outward focus and commitment to minister the gospel and serve the city. So, the answer to the question, “Are you going to build at 9th & D?” is “Yes, Lord willing, Redeemer will build a church 9th & D.” (And I hope God is wiling, because it would be fun to worship here once again.)
Please let me know if you have any questions.
And remember to join us this Sunday, May 25, 5pm at Zion Church to worship.
On behalf of the Redeemer launch team,
Tobey
