Worshiping Church
God calls all men everywhere to worship him in the name of his Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus gathers his church from every tribe, tongue, and nation to give glory to the Father who has shown his kindness to us through the cross of Christ. Zion gathers each Lord’s Day to praise her risen Lord, confess her sins, hear God’s Word, and be fed at his table. This is the end and goal of all God’s creation, “that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:10-11)
Serving Church
“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction.” (James 1:27). Zion takes seriously the call to ministries of mercy. We have a FoodNet distribution that serves over 100 families per week, a Teen Moms program, and a number of other diaconal ministries to those in need. We invite you to discover ways to show mercy even as God has shown you mercy.
Discipling Church
The discipleship process is lifelong. Every one who confesses Jesus Christ is called to take up his cross and follow him. At Zion the process of Christian formation involves teaching for all ages. We have graded classes for children and youth. Adults can attend one of our Adult Fellowship Communities (AFC’s) for Bible study and fellowship during the Christian Education hour on Sunday mornings. Our AFC’s also provide the context for social activities and smaller prayer and study groups. AFC1 meets in the Coffee House for college through early 30’s. AFC2 meets in the worship hall for those in their 30’s, 40’s, and some early 50’s. AFC3 meets in the loft room off the balcony for those in their late 40’s and up. The best way to become more connected at Zion is to begin attending one of our AFC’s.
Resource Church
We are committed to church planting. Lincoln needs lots and lots of good churches. Zion’s goal is to keep establishing new congregations. In 2000, we planted Grace Chapel at 40th and Sheridan. In 2008, we launched Redeemer Church. As God gives the growth, we mean to start another and another. We want to set before every member the possibility that God might call them to be part of the next new congregation.
Missions Church
Jesus told his disciples to go into all the world and preach the gospel. Zion supports both short-term and long-term missionaries, both through the PCA’s world mission, and through other sending agencies. We invite you to attend our monthly Sunday evening Missions Gatherings to hear reports from Japan, Peru, Africa, Bulgaria, and even the University of Nebraska.
