Women’s Winter Banquet

Mark your calendars for Friday, January 16th - The first annual Women’s Winter Banquet will take place that evening at 6:30pm in the Coffee House. This event will give the women of Zion a chance to spend a special evening out, eat good food, and most importantly, fellowship with each other and strengthen our sisterhood in Christ. This is also a great opportunity to bring friends!

We will be hearing from special speaker Emily Schmidt, a member of Grace Chapel. She will be speaking about her past and upcoming work with the Sacred Road ministry on the Yakama Indian Reservation in Washington. Take note, though, ladies - this is NOT a fund-raiser. Though your gifts are certainly not discouraged, the main purposes of this event are to build community and to learn about what God is doing in other places.

Registration for the banquet will take place in the foyer before and after the services for the next two Sundays (the 4th and the 11th). The cost of each banquet ticket is $5 to help cover the cost of food.

Children’s Christmas Program Rehearsal

All elementary Sunday School children are needed at the rehearsal for Sunday night’s program. This is the last rehearsal; regular Sunday School and AFC classes will meet on Sunday morning.

Women’s Christmas Party

Women’s Christmas Party will be held Sunday, December 7th at 5:00 p.m. at Diane Downing’s house (8621 Echo Court). If you desire to be a part of the gift exchange, bring an item that costs no more than $5 and a snack to share. It is a great time of food and fellowship. AFC Winter Electives

Adult Fellowship Communities will not meet on November 30th. December 7th begins a 4-week mini-term with three electives to choose from:
· Mercy (Rob Hotz) in the Loft
· Ancient/Future Evangelism (Keith Ghormley) in the Coffee House
· Expelled (Jim Locklear, Dennis Mann) in the worship hall
These electives will run for 4 weeks, December 7, 14, 21, and January 4. (No education hour on December 28th.)

Meet in the Zion coffee house

This month everyone 18-30s is invited to gather for a potluck instead of dining out. College students are encouraged to come and do not need to bring any food. Children are welcome to participate in the potluck, so there will be no childcare. If you’re new to Zion and/or AFC1 we hope you plan to attend!

Dust to Glory Bible Study

The “Dust to Glory” study has almost finished the Pentateuch. After Christmas we’ll be studying Joshua, Judges, Ruth, I and II Samuel, and I and II Kings for 10 weeks. If you haven’t been in the study and would like to come for just this historical book section, please let Marsha Howlett know by email or call 484-8457. We’ll begin January 6, Tuesday, 9:15 am at Zion church (with babysitting) and the same study will meet January 8, Thursday, 7:00 pm at the Howletts (no babysitting). Read the book of Joshua and come study with us on either of those dates.

Caroling and Soup Supper

Please join us on Saturday, December 6 at 3:00 PM to sing carols to our Zioin Senior Saints. After caroling we will meet at Zion for our soup and pie supper. Even if you have not been attending the AFC 3 class, you are welcome to join us. Please let me know if you are coming so we can divide up into groups ahead of time, and make arrangements for our soup and pie supper. (We will start caroling at homes, so you will need to know where to start.)

Caroling at Christmas time has been such a blessing to our saints and our carolers. Come and take part in this blessing with us. Call me, Linda Siedell to be put on our list of carolers. We need many voices so we can make a joyful noise.
