Zion Church remaining structure to be demolished June 15, 2007
LeGrande Excavation will begin taking down the remaining structure of the Zion Church building this Friday at about 12 noon.
The final determination that the remaining exterior walls, including the south towers, were not salvageable was reached today (Thursday). More than one structural engineer was involved in the final decision. Today church members spent hours recovering and cleaning furnishings from the site.
They recovered: coffee house tables, coffee house chairs, folding tables, stained glass, and the bell from the southeast tower. Inside the cornerstone was a time-capsule which will be opened at an upcoming event (yet to be set/announced).
